I encounter errors or cannot access my data in a shared folder on another
computer on our networkFirst, make sure you have carefully followed the network setup instructions
if you're using ChurchTrac on a network.
The database engine that ChurchTrac uses relies on the Microsoft Internet Explorer
Security Manager to determine whether a remote database is located within a
trusted security zone. If the location of your data file is not set as a
trusted zone, you may not be able to share or access ChurchTrac over a
network.
If you're using Windows XP SP2 or later you'll need to
adjust these settings in order to share a data file across the network.
Follow these steps:
-
Open the Windows Control Panel and select
"Internet Options" (or "Network and Internet Connections" and then
"Internet Options", depending on your system's configuration). This will
open the Internet Properties window.
-
Click on the "Security" tab at the top of the
window, then click on "Trusted Sites". Click the "Sites" button.
-
Uncheck the box that says "Require server
verification for all sites in this zone".
-
In the box labeled: "Add this website to the
zone" type the path to your ctdata file, then click the Add button. The
path to your data file should now be listed in the "Websites" text box.
