I cannot backup or restore my data
ChurchTrac has a built-in feature to backup and restore your data. There may be
a couple of reasons why the backup/restore features are not working.
- If you are trying to back up your data
directly to a CD, you must have a direct-to-CD burning application installed
and running. Roxio and Nero products both include such an application, which
essentially lets you write to a CD as if it were a floppy disc on your
computer. Otherwise, you will have to use a stand-alone CD burning application
to write the file to your CD after you've saved the backup to your desktop.
Some users have reported they are not able to burn directly to a CD from the
ChurchTrac backup screen, even when they have the proper direct-to-CD burning
software installed. In this case, you'll have to save the backup file to your
desktop, then use your CD burning software to write the backup file to CD.
- Some users report an error that a file is
missing (error number 53) when trying to backup their data. If you've
encountered this message,
download this
patch to your desktop, and then double-click it to restore the missing
files.
- "The path or file you entered is not valid."
If you encounter this error, make sure you use the browse button to specify
the location on your computer where you want the backup file to be saved. If
you type the path directly into the field and make a mistake, or are trying to
save to a disc that is unplugged or not available, you'll get this message.
