Understanding Group Categories

In ChurchTrac, groups (or classes, teams, small groups, etc.) are organized into collections called group categories. A group category is a collection of related groups or classes that you want to track together. The top left corner of the Groups screen lists all the group categories in your church.

On the screen image above, “Sunday School” is the Group Category, and “Preschool Class” is one of possibly many groups assigned to the Sunday School group category. You might have another group category that consists of groups or classes from your mid-week services, and yet another group category to list all your ministry teams or committees. You can have as many group categories as you’d like, and each group category can have as many groups, classes, teams, committees, etc. as you’d like.
