Error 429: ActiveX component can't create object
Error 670: Data sharing error
Other Miscellaneous Errors

This is is typically caused by a support component not being properly registered with Windows. By re-registering these components, the problem should be resolved.

First, download and install the latest program update. ChurchTrac automatically attempts to register these components whenever a program update is installed. To install the latest program update, open ChurchTrac, click on the Utilities menu, then click "Check online for program updates". This will open a webpage where you can download and install the latest update.

Note: When installing an update, be sure you are logged in as a Windows Administrator. Also, if you're using Vista or Windows 7, choose the option to Save the download to your desktop, then right-click on the update file and choose "Run as Administrator".

If the steps above do not correct this error, you may need to re-register the components manually:

  • If you have Windows XP or earlier, click on Start, then click Run. Type cmd in the Run field and press Enter. This will open a command prompt window.
  • If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, click on Start and type cmd in the search box. When cmd appears in the search results, right-click on it and choose "Run as Administrator". This will open a command prompt window.
