Error 2501: The OpenReport action was canceled.
Error 2205: The default printer driver isn't set up correctly.

When you attempt to preview a report, this error is occasionally generated. It could be caused by one of several factors:

  1. A problem with a program update. If you begin seeing this error immediately after installing a program update, try reinstalling the update and see if that resolves the problem.

  2. There may be no data on the report to display for the settings or date range you have chosen.

  3. It may be caused by some sort of incompatibility with your printer. Even though this error may not be generated on every report, it could still be related to the printer driver or printer settings.
  • Some users have reported that uninstalling and reinstalling their printer driver software resolved the problem.

  • Make sure your printer is connected to the computer and powered on.

  • Make sure the correct default printer is set in the Windows Control Panel.

  • Try switching to a different default printer and see if that resolves the problem. If you do not have a second printer that you can try, then download and install a virtual printer, like doPDF. This installs a "printer" on your computer that you can send documents or reports to, just like a regular printer, however it will create a PDF file to save on your computer instead of actually printing the report on paper.

  • Some users have reported that changing the print settings to a lower quality resolved the problem. For example, if you have your printer set to print on "Best quality", then changing to a lower dpi, like 300 dpi or 600 dpi may resolve the problem. This setting can be changed by accessing the printer's properties in the Windows Control Panel.

  1. Several errors can be caused by not having the latest updates for Windows and other Microsoft products installed. If you're using Vista or Windows 7, click on the Windows Start menu and open Windows Update. Click on "Change Settings" and make sure the option is checked that says: "Give me updates for Microsoft products...". Click OK, then click "Check for Updates" and install any available updates. Specifically, any updates for Windows or Microsoft Access need to be installed to ensure ChurchTrac works correctly.

  2. If the above steps do not resolve the problem, try doing a repair operation on Access runtime.
