How do I send a text message to someone's cell phone from ChurchTrac?

If you want to send a text message to someone's cell phone, ChurchTrac needs to know the cell phone service provider for each individual. Please select the provider from the list. If you do not use the text messaging feature, no selection is necessary for this field.

It is recommended that you survey your congregation to get their cell phone number (if you don't already have it), as well as their cell phone provider, and whether or not they want to receive text messages (especially since there is often a charge for receiving a text message).

To send a text message, click on the Output Options button on the bottom of the people screen, and choose the "Email or Text Message" Option. ChurchTrac uses your email client to deliver a text message directly to the recipient's cell phone.

Please note that most cell phone providers limit text messages to 150 characters or less. This means you should limit the length of your message to a sentence or two to ensure the message is delivered.
