How to Use ChurchTrac's Filter/Search Feature

The Filter/Search option allows you to filter the list of names on the People screen to show just those names that meet the criteria you specify. For example, you can show only those with a certain spiritual gift or all the males in your congregation.

You can run the filter multiple times to achieve the results you are looking for. For example, you might want to display all the names of your church members in a certain age range. You do this by first selecting Membership Status from the drop down menu on the left and then selecting Member from the menu on the right. When you click Go, ChurchTrac will take you back to the People screen, and the results you see are just the names of your members. Then you can further refine your search by going back to the Filter/Search screen and selecting another criterion, in this case Age Category. The new results you see on the People screen will now show only the names who are members AND in the age category you have chosen.

When running multiple Filter/Searches, ChurchTrac also gives you the option to add additional names to the initial search by selecting the second search option In addition to the names already displayed, also show the people who meet the criteria specified below. Or you can remove names from your search by selecting the third search option Hide the people who meet the criteria specified below.

Note: Before running a new Filter/Search, make sure you have cleared the existing search on the People screen by clicking on the quick search options field and selecting Everyone.

Using Filter/Search Results

The results of the Filter/Search can be saved to form a new group by clicking on the blue disk next to the quick search options field. These names will then be accessible on the Groups Screen under the group category and name you specify.

When the names you want displayed are visible on the People screen, click the Output Options button. This gives you a variety of options that will only apply to the names from your search. So you can send a quick email to everyone in your Filter/Search list, or print a report or mailing labels with just those names.
