Use Cases

A link card allows you to direct members and guests to other content on the internet. This effectively turns your Church Connect page into a hub for all other content related to your church or ministry!

Here are some ways we've seen churches use this card:

  • Social media pages
  • A Sermon podcast hosted on another site
  • Your streaming host, YouTube Live or Facebook Live
  • The church's Youtube or Vimeo channel
  • Google Calendar (This will direct them to your external Google Calendar. You can use a Page Card to embed your Google Calendar in Church Connect.)
  • The pastor's blog

Creating a Link Card

Add the URL in the "Link Address" box within the flyout menu for that card. Make sure the link includes the "https://" at the beginning.

Use relevant keywords here, but make sure the Alt tag describes what is in the image

This determines where the link card will take people when they select it. Double-check that the URL hasn't been deactivated or the content on that page hasn't been removed before adding the link to the card.

Note: Link Cards in the app will not open a linked site if it does not have SSL certification (that’s the “s” in https). This affects iPhones using the Church Connect app or Safari. Because this is an absolute rule enforced by iOS, any http:// links or unsecured sites will not open.

Pro Tips

Be visual

When creating your Link Cards, remember that most people are visual. Try to use pictures whenever possible when creating a Link Card. This will make your card stand out and save people time when they're navigating through your Church Connect Page.

Test your link

After creating the card, immediately test it out. Open the app on your phone and tap on the card. This is to make sure the link isn't broken and leads people to the right webpage. Do this periodically. Sometimes the owner of the page will change their URL or will take that page down altogether. You want to always be sure the card takes people where you want them to go.

Be strategic

Don't add too many link cards to your Church Connect page. The best thing to do is determine 1-3 other pages on the internet your church wants to point people toward.
