What is CLASS?

ChurchTrac Limited Accounting Setup Service (CLASS) is a paid service for ChurchTrac Accounting. (This is available on a paid Plus Plan subscription.)

Our team will add your accounts, list your designated funds with their current balance, list your income/expense categories, and much more. This allows you to rest easy and know that your church is equipped for success and your accounting is set up for success!

Who is this Accounting Service For?

This service may not be necessary for every church. Here are some reasons why you might NOT need it:

  • Your church has very few expenses and your accounting needs are fairly simple. In that case, our User Guide, videos, and support agents will be enough to get you started (all of which are free)
  • You have a treasurer or finance secretary on staff and they are able to do it without our assistance
  • You are already paying an accountant and you're happy with their service
  • Your church's accounting is a mess. In that case, it'll be up to you to sort it out and likely start over fresh.

How Much Does This Cost?

We have always kept our prices intentionally affordable. This service is no exception.

This is available on a paid Plus Plan subscription. There is a one-time fee of $399 for this service which we will bill to your credit card after you have submitted all the pertinent documentation. *ChurchTrac does not generate formal invoices for payments or additional services.

When you compare this price to the cost of the average CPA, this service will likely save you hundreds of dollars and hours of your time!

What's Included With CLASS?

Below is what we will do for your church:

  1. Create and setup one primary checking account
  2. Build categories and funds
  3. Enter one month's worth of bank transactions
  4. Make sure giving categories are accurate

What CLASS does NOT include:

With something as important as your church's accounting, it's important to set clear expectations.

So let's talk about what CLASS does NOT include...

  • Untangling years of poorly managed accounting. If your books are a disaster, the best (and truly only) thing to do is for you to start fresh
  • Managing your accounting going forward. We are only setting up your church's accounting, it is your responsibility to manage it once we are done. But we will help you with that!
  • Uploading more than one month of transactions. We will upload the transactions for the month of your choosing. It is your responsibility to record transactions after that month and keep up with it going forward
  • Adding and recording HARD assets. If you want to track the depreciation of the church van, you can add that info to the Accounting feature after our setup
  • Set up mortgage accounts. This is a more advanced step and you need to learn how to use ChurchTrac Accounting before we tackle this. But fear not! We will help you along the way

How do I sign up for CLASS?

Send a support ticket and let us know you are interested. We will send you an email asking for more information. Once we have that info, you will get a link to schedule a consultation call.

What if my treasurer doesn't want to use ChurchTrac? Or a computer?

We certainly can't force anyone to use our software.

Spreadsheets have served your church well but lack easy reporting and accountability. ChurchTrac Accounting makes it easy to generate the reports you need to understand your church's finances. Plus, multiple users can access the Accounting feature from anywhere, making it easy to keep the church accountable.

Why does it cost so much?

We understand if your church is small and working with a tight budget. That's actually why we priced it the way we did!

The average cost of a CPA is $60-125/hr, and that's on the low end. If you continue with them after the initial setup, you have to keep paying them at that rate.

At $399, you get excellent service at an intentionally affordable rate!

Does ChurchTrac offer double-entry accounting?

No. Most churches don't need that much complexity to manage their books.

We use a single-entry accounting system because that is what most churches need.
