Preventing Blocked Emails and Texts

To make sure your church's communication reaches everyone effectively, it's crucial your members take specific steps to avoid issues like blocked messages. Follow these steps to ensure that your emails and SMS messages are delivered without any disruptions.

  • Add the Church Email Address to Contact Lists
  • Add the Church SMS Number to Contact Lists
  • Pro Tips

1. Add the Church Email Address to Contact Lists

In order to prevent important emails from being marked as spam or blocked members must add your church's email address to their contact lists. Email providers often filter out emails from unrecognized addresses. Adding your church's email to contacts ensures it reaches their inbox.

Ensure that all members add this email address: "keyword"@churchtracmail.com to their personal contacts.

Private Domain Emails

If your church or members use private domain emails (e.g., john@smithfamily.com) or Microsoft services like Hotmail and Outlook, it's especially important that they whitelist "churchtracmail.com", "churchtrac.com", and any other private domains to ensure messages don’t get blocked. They can do this by adding your church’s email to their safe senders or contacts list.

Afterward, encourage them to also add the email address to your church’s contact list in your ChurchTrac account to maintain seamless communication.

Finding Your Keyword

Your unique keyword is the part of your Church Connect URL that comes before the first period. Here’s how you can find it:

  • Go to the Church Connect Screen in ChurchTrac.
  • Navigate to the Page Setup tab.
  • Look at your Church Connect URL. The keyword is whatever comes before the first period in the URL.
  • For example, if your URL is thepotentialchurch.churchtrac.com, your church email address will be thepotentialchurch@churchtracmail.com.
If you’re having trouble finding the keyword, you can always submit a support ticket, and we’ll be happy to provide it for you. If you haven’t customized your Church Connect URL yet, you can follow this article to set it up. Learn more about Customizing Your Church Connect URL ›

2. Add the Church SMS Number to Contact Lists

Members should also add the Church's SMS number to their phone contacts to guarantee they receive text messages. Some carriers, such as T-Mobile and Verizon, may block messages from unfamiliar numbers by default. However, this is a setting that can be modified.

Ensure all members save your church's SMS numbers to their phone contacts to receive text updates.

Opt-In for SMS Messaging

Members must opt-in to receive text messages from your church.

Ensure your members know how to opt-in during services, via email, or through your website. This is a critical step to ensure they stay connected to important updates. Learn more about Opting-In ›

Pro Tips

Create a Contact Card

Provide a digital contact card that includes both your church's email and SMS number. Share this card through email, your website, or your mobile app, so members can quickly add it to their contact lists with just a few taps.

Broadcast a Reminder During Services

Take advantage of your Sunday services or other gatherings by showing instructions on the big screen. This helps remind members to add the church's contact information and opt-in for SMS messages.

Add Contact Details to Your Connect Card

Include your church's email address and SMS number on any physical or digital connect cards you provide to visitors or members. This serves as a simple reminder for people to add the church to their contact list.

Consistent communication starts with making sure your church is added to everyone’s contacts for both email and SMS. If you run into any further issues, contact our support team!
