Push notifications are short messages that pop up on a person’s phone or device to instantly grab their attention. For your church, they’re a simple way to remind people about upcoming events, send encouragement, or share urgent updates—even if they’re not actively using your app or website. One way communication.
To ensure your message is successfully delivered, recipients must meet the following:
Since not everyone in your church has the Church Connect app installed or has enabled push notifications, it's important to think of push notifications as a quick way to reach your most connected members, not your entire church.
You can use Smart Lists or Groups to segment your messages and send them to specific groups, like volunteers or small group leaders.
In the People screen, go to the Messaging tab and select the "Push Notifications" button to get started.
This is the main heading of your notification. It appears bolded in the recipient’s device notification area. Keep it short and catchy to grab attention!
Example: "Reminder: Worship Night Starts at 6 PM!"
This is the body text that appears below the title. It should be clear and concise.
Example: "Doors open at 5:30. Invite a friend and come early for coffee!"
You can enhance your notification by including an image. Either drag and drop a file or select an image from your Igniter Media library.
You have the option to send your notification immediately or schedule it for later:
After sending, you’ll see the option to "Show Recent Notifications" in the top right corner of the screen. This makes it easy to track past messages and avoid sending duplicates.
